Homecoming

Finding Home in our own Bodies, Minds & Emotions

“I am homesick for a place I am not sure even exists. One where my heart is full. My body loved. And my soul understood” – Melissa Cox

My ‘Know Yourself in 2021’ blog, YouTube and social media series is coming to an end this month – 12 months of invitations to know and discover yourself from different angles and perspectives.

Thank you so much for every comment, click, read, like and subscription! I have really appreciated your support, and I hope these approaches have served you in some way, big or small. We’ve journeyed through self-compassion, intuition, grounding, letting go and setting boundaries, to exploring the body, rest, simplifying, managing emotions, balancing our nervous systems and honouring stillness. You can take a look back at all of it here whenever it serves you.

What I hadn’t realised while crafting this journey is that these pathways all connect to each other through one important theme: they give us the opportunity to come home to ourselves. To me, this is the ultimate aim of any self-development work - it’s about feeling more at home in our own bodies, minds, emotions and inner wisdom. It’s also a return to knowing who we are deep down through presence, living life more truthfully and seeing the potential we have to be our own safe harbour, no matter what is happening in our lives.

We all instinctively understand home in unique ways –  whether you enjoy being at home or not, no doubt you’ve had to spend more time at home in recent times than ever before. If you like home life, maybe home represents a place where you can rest, be yourself, have a nourishing meal or glass of wine, get organised or savour time with your family. Yet, you may not see your own self in this way - as a home you take with you everywhere you go, where you can choose what to do there - from resting, to having a clear out, to self-care, to finding containment, support or peace when you most need it.

Imagine what life would be like if you had a connection with yourself like this. This is the kind of world I dream of and want to help create: a world where we are all so connected to ourselves internally that our external lives naturally reflect this - they are filled with presence, purpose and pleasure. Imagine the impact this would have on everything in your life, from your personal relationships to work and your general wellbeing: when we feel filled up inside, we naturally live life from a happier and healthier place.

Homecoming

With homecoming in mind, I’ll be researching 4 approaches to coming home inside in the new year: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. When we can learn how to come home inside, we feel more energised, more productive and happier and healthier day-to-day. We learn how to cope when we don’t feel good enough or that we don’t belong. Homecoming is a pathway to feeling more inner peace and freedom from the thoughts and emotional patterns that overwhelm and don’t serve us. It’s a journey I know about personally, having left home as a child due to war - and no doubt this is why it means so much to me.

Ultimately, home isn’t just a place out there - but also a place in here

At a time where our concept of home is radically changing, I feel there’s never been a better moment to understand this in practice for ourselves - and the transformative impact it can have.

I’ll be inviting you to join me and the community we’ll create together to share stories and experiences of inner homecoming - those moments in your life that have led to you feeling more at home in your body, mind, emotions - and what it was that got you there. I really want to hear your voice! Watch this space for more info soon.

Wrapping up the Year

In the meantime, I want to invite you to try some powerful practices to wrap up the year over on my social media - join me to learn some practical tools to consciously release all that was in 2021, however it’s been for you, and create fertile new ground for 2022.

From me and mine to you and yours, here’s to a great festive period and finding inspiring ways to come home to ourselves in the new year!
